About Genesis K-12 Academy

The Foundation

"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." Genesis 1:28 (KJV)

Engineering is not a modern invention. It is a mandate. From the very first chapter of Scripture, God commissioned mankind to be a faithful steward of the earth — to subdue it, to cultivate it, and to exercise dominion over it with wisdom and care. This is what scholars call the Dominion Mandate, and it is the oldest engineering brief ever written. At Genesis K-12 Academy, we believe that every circuit built, every force calculated, and every problem solved is an act of faithful stewardship in response to that original command. We didn't build our curriculum around engineering and then add faith to it. We started with Genesis 1:28 and built everything from there.

Our Story

Genesis K-12 Academy was founded in 2026 with a conviction that middle schoolers are capable of thinking like engineers when someone gives them the right framework, the right tools, and the right foundation. We looked at the homeschool curriculum landscape and saw science taught in isolation from faith, engineering reduced to worksheets, and students graduating without ever having built anything with their hands. We believed there was a better way.

That better way is the Creationeering™ framework — a methodology developed by Dr. Mark Horstemeyer that connects rigorous engineering principles to a biblical worldview, rooted in the Dominion Mandate of Genesis 1:28. GK-12 was built to bring that framework to homeschool families across the country, delivered through hands-on lab kits that turn kitchen tables into engineering workspaces. We launched with one course, built with the same rigor Dr. Horstemeyer brings to university-level instruction. Every future course will be held to the same standard.

Mission, Vision, Values

Our Mission: To develop the next generation of faith-driven engineers by delivering rigorous, hands-on, biblically grounded curriculum to homeschool students across the country.
Our Vision: A generation of engineers who understand that their discipline begins with a mandate from God — and who carry that conviction into every problem they solve, every system they build, and every career they pursue.
Our Values:
  • Rigor without compromise. We do not water down concepts. We make them accessible without making them easy.
  • Faith and engineering belong together. We treat the Dominion Mandate as the foundation of engineering education, not a footnote to it.
  • Hands-on learning is non-negotiable. Half of every course is lab time. Understanding that isn't experienced isn't understanding at all.
  • Credibility matters. Every course is built by engineers with real-world research and field experience behind them.
  • The student comes first. We build curriculum that challenges students, respects their intelligence, and prepares them for what comes next.

Our Approach

Genesis K-12 courses are built on the Creationeering™ framework — a structured engineering methodology developed by Dr. Mark Horstemeyer that teaches students not just how to solve problems, but how to think about them. Creationeering™ guides students through the full arc of engineering practice: observing the created world, identifying a problem, developing and testing a solution, and reflecting on what the process reveals about the Creator who designed it all. It is the same methodology Dr. Horstemeyer has applied across decades of university instruction and real-world research, adapted for the homeschool middle schooler who is ready to be challenged.

Half of every GK-12 course is dedicated to hands-on lab time, supported by custom lab kits shipped directly to your home. Students build mousetrap-powered cars that teach mechanical energy and force. They wire Arduino-based circuits that introduce coding and electronics. They measure, iterate, and test — the way engineers actually work. No classroom required. The kitchen table is the lab, and the lab is where the learning sticks.

Dr. Mark Horstemeyer

Dr. Mark Horstemeyer is one of the most credentialed engineers in the country, with a career spanning decades of university research, federal laboratory work, and real-world field application. He is the creator of the Creationeering™ framework — a methodology born from his conviction that engineering is inseparable from its biblical foundation in the Dominion Mandate. Dr. Horstemeyer has taught at the university level for decades, authored peer-reviewed research across multiple engineering disciplines, and spent his career building the intellectual framework that sits at the core of every Genesis K-12 course. His involvement is not advisory in name only. His fingerprints are on every lesson, every lab, and every learning objective in the curriculum.
